Forward Madison just announced that it’s signed maybe the coolest name in USL — Wolfgang Prentice — on loan for 2024 from Oakland Roots, pending league and federation approval. Prentice appeared in nine matches on loan for Forward early in the 2023 season, starting twice and scoring once. His one goal game June 11 against eventual USL1 champtions NCFC. That week, Oakland snatched him back, and he made 13 more appearances in the Championship, seven as a starter.
“I am happy to bring Wolfgang back on loan for the 2024 season,” said Head Coach Matt Glaeser. “He's a gifted wide player with pace and 1vs1 ability who can play in multiple roles. Having another player with USL Championship experience will enhance and add quality to our roster.”
Prentice began his soccer career with organizations such as LA Galaxy, Pateadores, and Real So Cal. In 2018, Prentice attended Cal State University, Northridge where he made 35 appearances and scored four goals.
In 2019, Prentice joined FC Golden State Force in USL League Two and later signed his first professional contract with NISA side San Diego 1904 in 2021, making 16 appearances and scoring a goal in his first season with them. In 2022, Prentice signed with Oakland Roots and was loaned to Northern Colorado Hailstorm in USL League One. Prentice made 12 appearances and scored one goal before being loaned to the ‘Mingos.
