Wait what? Damia Viader comes to Madison
Operation “Sign All of Omaha’s Former Players” continues as Forward Madison today announced that midfielder Damia Viader has become a Mingo.
Viader has spent the last three seasons with Sacramento Republic, where he started in the 2022 US Open Cup Final no biggie. He scored seven goals and added three assists in those seasons. Before that he spent 2020 and 2021 with Union Omaha, where he scored eight goals — including one in the 2021 USL1 playoff semifinal — and was named the 2021 Defender of the Year.
Viader, born in Barcelona, is still relatively young at 27. He got his start with Barca’s youth program from the ages of 8 to 13, and came to play college soccer in the US at Barton in 2018-19 and Iowa Western in 2019-20.
Programming Note
With the US Open Cup match set for tomorrow night, we will release audio from the post match interviews, and then endeavor to put out a full episode including recaps of both the Richmond and Tulsa matches on Thursday evening or Friday morning. Remember this weekend is the Battle for Madison as the Mingos take on the Badgers of Wisconsin!
