The longest-tenured Mingo is back!
Forward Madison just announced that Derek Gebhard has signed for his fourth season. He’s played in 85 games for the Mingos, second only to the OG Eric Leonard. He scored six goals last season, along with three assists and paced the possession-heavy club with 86.6% passing accuracy.
A forward by trade, he played most of 2023 as a wingback in coach Matt Glaeser’s 3-5-2 system.
“Derek was probably our most improved player in 2023, he came in fit, sharp, and hungry which led to him having a strong season,” said Head Coach Matt Glaeser. “He has 1v1 ability and pace to unlock opponent defenses but also has the mentality to work defensively. We feel that Derek can have another strong impact on our 2024 season and help reach our objectives.”
We’ll have additional announcements throughout the day, and a special League One Day One edition of the podcast in your feeds tonight, including an exclusive interview with Matt Glaeser.
