Goalkeeper Bernd Schipmann has signed for a second season with Forward Madison, the club just announced.
He recorded 12 clean sheets in 2023, the second most in the league and the most in Forward Madison history. He saved two penalties, one of which led to one of the most memorable moments in Forward Madison history: a penalty save one end leading directly to a Christian Chaney goal at the other in a 4-1 win over Greenville Triumph.
“Bernd had a strong year with us in 2023, exemplified by him recording the 2nd most shutouts in USL League One. Along with the other key pieces to our backline, returning Bernd gives us continuity and understanding to build on in the back for 2024,” Head Coach Matt Glaeser said in a statement. “His composure, shot-stopping ability, and quality distribution align with what we look for in our goalkeepers and make him a solid returning player.”
We’ll have additional announcements throughout the day, and a special League One Day One edition of the podcast in your feeds tonight, including an exclusive interview with Matt Glaeser.
